Compute North Announces Construction of a 300 MW Data Center in Texas for Bitcoin Miners

Bitcoin mining company Compute North announced it is building a 300 megawatt (MW) data center in Granbury, Texas. According to the mining company, the data center at Wolf Hollow Power Plant could be expanded to 600 MW in the future.

It will start with 300 MW of capacity, which will increase to 600 MW in the future.

Blockchain infrastructure and hosting services company Compute North announced on April 8 the opening of a new 300 MW bitcoin mining operation in Texas. tiER 0 data center will be located at Wolf's nearby Hollow Power Plant, and the venture hopes to eventually increase the facility to 600 MW. Compute North will also provide grid balancing services to the Energy Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).

Compute North, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, recently received a $385 million investment to expand its operations. Energy and commodities company Mercury and sustainable energy investment firm Generate Capital co-led the Series C private equity investment. Compute North's Series C financing was also provided by National Grid Partners. According to the company, its TIER 0 data center has "the ability to respond quickly during peak demand that puts pressure on the grid."
